Jose Salinas, CPSS, CPRC

Jose Salinas is a Peer Recovery Coach and Trainer at Mindshift Recovery, bringing over a decade of experience in peer support, and a deep personal understanding of the recovery journey.

Jose is a Certified Peer Support Specialist, Certified Peer Recovery Coach, State of Michigan Peer Trainer, Emotional CPR (eCPR) Educator, and holds an International Recovery Coach certification. He spent more than ten years with Kent County Community Mental Health at Network180/Access Center, providing crisis and recovery-oriented support to individuals experiencing substance use and mental health challenges.

Jose has extensive experience facilitating trainings in Mental Health First Aid, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), Emotional CPR, and mindfulness-based recovery programs. In his work with the State of Michigan, he has helped train and support thousands of Peer Professionals across the state, contributing to the growth of the peer workforce and recovery-oriented systems of care.

Jose's own path through long-term recovery from heroin addiction, mental health challenges, homelessness, and trauma fuels his deep commitment to supporting others. He brings authenticity, compassion, and hope to his work, believing that recovery is possible and that people can build meaningful lives beyond crisis.

When he's not working, Jose can often be found on sunrise trail hikes with his two Australian Shepherds, Chiquis and Peques, or investing time in the community that inspires his work.
